By 2006 biologic therapeutics had captured a $30 billion dollar market with forecasted growth to $60 billion by the end of 2010. We intend to capture a significant portion of this market through its unique Biociphering™ platforms which allow for the union of biological protein engineering and medical chemistry in order to create novel and enhanced protein therapeutics to meet the market’s unmet medical needs. The Biociphering™ platforms, CAESAR and VIGENÈRE, are able to site-specifically modify any protein sequence through the substitution or addition of non-natural amino acids, in E. coli, yeast or mammalian expression systems. These amino acids possess unique chemical functions and create the opportunity to perform various conjugations that can lead to an enhanced efficacy, safety and tolerability profile. In essence, these unique amino acids unlock an advanced class of chemical reactions that are superior to conventional methods available for protein modification.
